TEXT: Matthew 5:1-12
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." The word "meek" is not very popular today. Many see it as meaning one who is weak or a pushover. But Moses was meek, and he stood boldly before Pharaoh, demanded that he let the children of Israel go, and brought down judgment from God when Pharaoh didn't listen. Esther was meek, but she fearlessly stood before King Xerxes and used her influence to thwart Haman's plan to annihilate the Jews. Jesus was meek, but He continued preaching and teaching publicly even when He knew the authorities were openly seeking to have Him captured or killed.
